The Best of Underground Hip-Hop

I know this album came out about 2 years ago, but I haven’t listened to the whole thing in a while so I thought I’d keep it on repeat for a few hours and review it. Over all it’s a really solid album, and Bliss N Eso’s complex and profound lyrics are still as hard hitting as the first time I listened to them. It’s not as good as Flying Colours, the album they released prior to this, but it’s fairly close. The production is very artistically layered with amazing verity of scratches and samples, which complements Bliss N Eso’s layered lyrics to a cue. They have a very positive flow that is backed up with a constant stream of emotion and personal experiences that they pour out onto each track. Many of the subjects they go over are very relatable, which makes their dialog that much more powerful. Definitely worth a listen. This could have been a classic, but it is peppered with a few forgettable tracks. They aren’t bad, since they’re still above average songs, but nothing you’d be listening to for weeks to come.

My Album Rating: 8.5 out of 10
